McGowan’s help launch the iPhone 4 at 3’s nationwide outlets overnight
McGowan’s has announced that its overnight outfit of mobile operator 3’s 24 stores throughout the republic of Ireland for the recent iPhone 4 launch turned out to be a huge success. 3 has store locations in virtually every major population centre in Ireland and the installs had to be all completed during one Thursday night to be ready for opening the following morning. Printing took four days and McGowan’s used four teams split across the country to carry out the installations.
McGowan’s is now arguably one of the country’s leading providers of POS solutions and the iPhone 4 launch for 3 was a testament to the its production and project management skills. Managing director Tony Roe said: “The work involved producing till wraps, window vinyls, hanging mobiles and general posters. Access was only allowed into each store from 6pm on the designated evening and everything had to be installed by 7am the next morning in order that each store could open to launch the iPhone 4. When you consider that the locations were countrywide, Dublin, Cork, Letterkenny, Tralee, Galway etc., it was some operation.
“The hanging mobiles were produced on the MPress, directly onto a 2mm display board and hung accordingly,” added Roe. “Everything else was printed on the company’s HP Scitex LX600 latex machine with eco-friendly attributes and added pin sharp quality as well as on a Roland Soljet Pro III XC-540 with online die-cutting. The till wraps were done on a permanent vinyl with eco-friendly latex inks and then die-cut using a Zund.”
