Geometrics win first flatbed order for Grapo.
Geometrics, which was recently appointed a Grapo reseller in Ireland, has taken its first order for a Grapo Manta KM8/720 UV flatbed printer for delivery to Xtreme Signs at the end of February. The machine has been bought to enable Xtreme Signs to speed up production and offer clients additional signage solutions.
Fergus Byrne, MD of Geometrics, said: “The Grapo Manta KM8/720 UV flatbed is a 3m x 2m true flatbed. It will allow Xtreme Signs to print directly onto substrates such as PVC sheets, plexiglass, wood, metal, polystyrene, foam, cardboards, paper banner, textile and much more. At the moment the company has two Roland printers, a Soljet Pro III XC-540 and a Pro II SC-540 so a lot of mounting has to be done which is time consuming and costly. The Manta KM8/720 will eliminate all that and bring the company’s cost per unit down as well as allowing Xtreme Signs to provide a much wider range of applications to its clients.”
Byrne said one of the key advantages the Grapo Manta KM8/720 has over many of its competitors is that rigid substrates are not being fed through on rollers. “Glass, Diebond and many other substrates just don’t take to this feed method because they slide due to inadequate grip,” he added. “The beauty of this machine is that the bed is static dramatically reducing set up and downtime for the printer. Add in twin-mode capability, which gives the operator two virtual working desks, and the Manta is a winner.”
