GDS shows off its expertise at Catex 2011
GDS (Graphics and Display Systems) has completed a prestigious exhibition stand for Bewley’s at Ireland’s National Catering Exhibition, Catex 2011, which was held in the RDS Simonscourt 8 -10 February.
The event is Ireland’s premier showcase of equipment, services, food and beverage products for the foodservice and hospitality sectors and this year in particular one of the main attractions was the Bewley’s stand designed and produced by GDS. Bewley’s, is one of the largest and most recognised tea and fresh coffee brands in Ireland with interests stretching from the UK and Continental Europe to the USA. As one of the leading solution providers to the Irish exhibition industry GDS has three main divisions dealing in the design and building of exhibition stands, conference backdrops/sets and finally large format digital printing which also encompasses the supply of pull-ups,banner stands, POP stands etc.
Paul O’Connor, MD of GDS, said of the Bewley’s project: “Although GDS built nine stands for the show the design and build of the stand for Bewley’s was a sizable undertaking. The project involved building a large floor area, constructing the various different elements to the stand, all of which then had to be covered in Bewley’s livery and logo printed graphics. These are really stunning because they display a wide range of different ways in which Bewley’s products are merchandised and also the colour scheme is very eye catching.”
GDS has a developed over the years a major large-format digital print production platform to enable it to provide clients with leading edge technology for printed graphics alongside its design and construction capability.
“This job posed a number of challenges in that it involved a significant amount of printed graphics and also paintwork,” continued O’Connor. “Part of the work was done in the factory and the remainder was completed on site when the stand was physically built. However, the principle challenge was time in that GDS had to have the whole stand completed between the Saturday morning and the following Monday evening before the exhibition opened on the Tuesday. That was three days and considering that the floor alone takes up one whole day it really tested the companies experience and expertise.”
