    SDEA Creative Retail Awards winners announced

    The 2021 SDEA Creative Retail Awards have recognised the best companies and talent across the spectrum of retail design and display since 2018.

    This year’s jury independently judged a total of over 600 entries from suppliers, designers and retailers taking part from around the world.

    The winners and highly commended are:

    – POP/POS 

    Winner: Revolution Beauty Superdrug Signature Display (in collaboration with arken POP International).

    Commended: L’Oreal Victor and Rolf Christmas (in collaboration with Kesslers International); Currys PC World – Christmas Peak (in collaboration with ITG and Currys PC World); Fanta Halloween Train (in collaboration with Adare International and Smurfit Kappa); Fulfil – WOW POS units (in collaboration with Barrows).

    – Sustainable Display

    Winner: Anya Hindmarch – I Am A Plastic Bag (in collaboration with StudioXAG).

    Commended: Country Road – Spearheading Sustainability (in collaboration with HMKM); Central Embassy – Anima Mundi – Soul of the World (in collaboration with: Central Group and Mulyana); Woolworths South Africa – One Bottle = One Bauble = Hope (in collaboration with VM Central, Essay Gifts, Bad Weather and Woolworths In House).

    – Seasonal or Temporary Display 

    Winner: Liberty – Peace, Love and Liberty (in collaboration with StudioXAG)

    Commended: Gap – Holiday (in collaboration with KGK Genix); Unilever displays for Auchan – Christmas Marketplace Experience – Knorr, Hellmann’s and Glóbusz (in collaboration with Indicia Worldwide); Fenwicks Bond Street – Christmas Windows (in collaboration with Propability and Flourish Trading); The SM Store – It’s Christmas at SM.

    – Graphics, Signage and Wayfinding

    Winner: Loaf – Bristol Shack 

    Commended: XYZ Storage Rebrand (in collaboration with Ampersand Studio); Ecco Zurich (in collaboration with TRC and ecco Brand); Debenhams Kley (in collaboration with Stylo); Loaf – Bristol Shack; Global Media Outdoor – Strathclyde Partnership for Transport (In collaboration with: arken POP International).

    – Bar and Restaurant Design 

    Winner: Bread Ahead (in collaboration with The Yard Creative, Quintain, and Bluecrow Projects). 

    Commended: Sam’s Riverside (in collaboration with DesignLSM); 14 Hills
    (in collaboration with McCue and Robert Angell Design International); Norma
    (in collaboration with Rosendale Design and Chef Ben Tish); Brook House (in collaboration with Brace Studio).

    – Surfaces and Finishes

    Winner: Harrods Beauty Hall (in collaboration with The GA Group).

    Commended: adidas – Parlez educational CDU (in collaboration with Kesslers International); Hamleys Frozen II Castle and Theming (in collaboration with Propability and Flourish Trading); Phaidon Luxury Book Stand (in collaboration with Kesslers International and The Haas Brothers); Vype Inspiration Store (in collaboration with: Landor and Fitch).

    – VM Scheme

    Winner: Fenwick – Pink Spring/Summer Campaign (in collaboration with Propability and Flourish Trading).

    Commended: The Rolling Stones – Flagship Store (In collaboration with Stylo); Woolworths South Africa – Jungle Bells; Benefit Cosmetics and John Lewis – Hello Happy Foundation Window Display (in collaboration with arken POP International); Ralph Lauren – Spring Kites (In collaboration with Stylo).

    – Innovative Display Product

    Winner: Footlocker – Nike React Element 55 Launch at Footlocker, Milan (in collaboration with Office Twelve)

    Commended: adidas London Flagship Store (In collaboration with: Intermarketing); Casa Portuguesa do Pastel de Bacalhau; The Rolling Stones – Flagship Store (In collaboration with Stylo); Charlotte Tilbury Magic Cream Display (in collaboration with: Triplar).

    – Omni-Channel Experience

    Winner: Selfridges – The Instagram Edit (in collaboration with Seen Displays).

    Commended: Modivo – how a stationery store becomes a phygital format (in collaboration with Nanovo); B&Q Seamless Payment (in collaboration with TCS OmniStore); Pernod Ricard – Absolut Wall Display (in collaboration with Kesslers International).

    – Lighting Design

    Winner: SKP – Shin Kong Place South (in collaboration with Light.iQ in partnership with Studio Illumine, Sybarite and Gentle Monster).

    Commended: Tekzone Tron Lighting (in collaboration with Unibox and Grapes Design); Comur – Obidos Store; Molton Brown – Bluewater (in collaboration with: Fagerhult Lighting and Dalziel and Pow); Mundo FantaÄ›stico da Sardinha Portuguesa.

    – Shopfitting/Fit-Out

    Winner: Harrods Beauty Hall (in Collaboration with The GA Group).

    Commended: Central England Co-op – Redesigned Boley Park Food Store (In Collaboration with Various); Save the Children – Urban Proposition; Smartech Flagship Store Selfridges + The Bike Shop by Smartech + Playhouse by Smartech; TBK Design – Tiles and Baths Direct Flagship Store (In collaboration with je+1).

    – Technology

    Winner: Modivo – how a stationary store becomes a phygital format (in collaboration with Nanovo).

    Commended: Lotte Supermarket Vietnam – Contactless Sampling for Unilever brand, closeup (in collaboration with Indicia Worldwide and Alta Media, Vietnam); Pernod Ricard – Absolut Wall Display (in collaboration with Kesslers International); Tailored Brands – Mobile Body Scanning In-store (in collaboration with 3DLook).

    – Pop-Up Store 

    Winner: Cartier – Clash de Cartier – Selfridges (in collaboration with L’Atelier Five and Selfridges).

    Commended: Coach X Jean-Michel Basquiat; Room for Tea Exhibit (in collaboration with Chaimi Design Studio, CrowdArt, Yaxin Bai, Dingding Hu, Projject, Mengyao Ye, Fenghe Luo, Gongkan (Kantapon Metheekul); Majid Al Futtaim – Something Like That; Revolution Beauty Pop Up (in collaboration with arken POP International).

    – Food Beverage and Supermarket Design 

    Winner: Longo’s Liberty Village (in collaboration with: Ampersand Studio).

    Commended: The Bristol Loaf (in collaboration with Phoenix Wharf); Asda Sustainable Store Trial (in collaboration with CreativeRace); O Mundo Fantástico da Sardinha Portuguesa; Glenfiddich – Glenfiddich Grand Cru (in collaboration with Kesslers International).

    – Independent Store

    Winner: Majid Al Futtaim – That.
