Perspex Distribution introduces 100% recycled PVC foam board

Perspex Distribution has brought out Palight Re-Nu, a 100% recycled PVC foam board understood to be a first for the UK print market.

Palight Re-Nu is manufactured by Palram in County Durham where its manufacturing plant and has been developed to utilise recycled waste from the company’s production line and end users.

The new foam is produced as a co-extruded PVC, providing a white surface. The lightweight substrate is available in thicknesses of 3mm, 5mm and 10mm in a sheet size 3m x 2m.

PDL marketing manager Luke Martyn said: “We have been working with Palram to develop Palight Re-Nu and introducing a 100% recycled option for our PVC foam customers. We tested the product at Sign & Digital UK this year and visitors were really excited to share this product with their own customers and delighted with the quality of the print tests taking place at the show. This new range demonstrates the strength of Palram’s UK manufacturing R&D being the first to offer a 100% recycled PVC foam solution.”

Tom Rose, Palram UK and Ireland sales manager, added: “Developing a wider range of recycled substrates is a key target for Palram. We grind up and reuse production scraps reducing production waste to under 1%. Cuttings and scrap are also collected from our customers, end users and external suppliers throughout Europe to create enough raw material to feed new products such as Palight Re-Nu.  Our in-house recycling plants and product development teams are a key provider in helping Palram deliver new and sustainable products to the market. “

Over 80% of products available from Perspex Distribution are made in the UK including Palight PVC Foam and Palsun Polycarbonate manufactured by Palram.
