As part of the 12th edition of London’s Sculpture in the City project, MacroArt has teamed up with Mtec Fine Art, at the invitation of exhibition organisers the City of London Corporation and Lacuna, to play a part in bringing a key site in London to life with Arturo Herrara’s mural ‘Untitled, 2020’.
The mural – situated on Creechurch Lane in Aldgate – blends together an array of colours using UV inks, all sampled in MacroArt’s studio. The company then printed the 9 x 21m mural onto self-adhesive vinyl using its Durst 512R with the intention that the artwork remains vibrant throughout the nine months it will be on show
Installation represented one of the biggest challenges for MacroArt. Four installers worked across two days erecting the 190m2 mural, with a cherry picker mounted to the back of a lorry ensuring the artwork was accurately placed.
MacroArt group account director Mike Hamling said: “Bringing vibrant artwork into the heart of London as part of the latest launch for the long-running Sculpture in the City is a thrill for us. Our team worked extremely hard to help make this a reality, and we’re very proud of the result. We’re delighted with how this latest mural has been received. The richness of the colours was paramount to this artwork’s success as well as the accuracy of the installation on what is a challenging site.”
