A 3.2m wide MTEX 3.2m digital textile printer has arrived at DPI’s Digital Print Innovation Centre in Derby where it will be demonstrated from 26 June.
The four-colour MTEX 3200 – with integrated dye-sublimation fixation unit and vapour extraction – is based upon the Mimaki JV5 and is available as a 3.2m or 1.6m machine.
The MTEX 3200 prints to a maximum resolution of 1440dpi x 1440dpi, with 7-21 picoliter variable drops in four staggered high-resolution Epson DX5 heads. The fixation unit has 12 individually controlled infrared heaters to provide even temperatures across the whole width of the fabric, including the outside ends. The open system to load/unload material means it’s quick and easy to replace textiles and manage media. Servo engines integrated into the take-up roller ensure that the step is synchronised throughout the printing process.
DPI managing director Stewart Bell, said: “This new MTEX 3200 is unique for its price point. It’s an industry-proven printer using dye-based sublimation inks and inline fixation unit incorporating a user-controllable vapour extraction unit, sub-£135k delivered and installed.”
The fixation unit, though integrated, is set forward of the printer to eliminate any contamination issues, such as ghosting. The integrated extraction unit also stops any oil contamination issues.
