The face of Trimwel 25 years on

Trimwel, a well-known supplier of speciality products to the sign industry is celebrating its twenty-fifth anniversary by embarking on an expansion programme designed to improve its profile through an increased product range and a new website.
The company, based in the Sandyford industrial Estate on Dublin’s south side, was originally a 3M distributer but it has recently re-positioned itself as a mainstream supplier to the sign industry.

Nick Little, sales director said: “We feel that we have a lot of supply chains which have some very good specialised products to offer the market. To celebrate our twenty-fifth anniverserary year we decided that this was the ideal opportunity to communicate to the general sign market that we were more than just a supplier of specialised sign products and that we could supply a lot more than just one off specialised signage solutions. As part of this marketing process Trimwell has launched a new website, and introduced a range of interesting new products from companies such as Spiritflex, GE Lumination and Reflekton as well as investing heavily in improving our customer communications.”

The Reflektons range of self adhesive reflective vinyl is suitable for eco solvent digital printers such as Roland, Mimaki etc. and offers Trimwel’s customers added-value for use on vehicle wrapping, road signage and shop fronts. Little maintains that it compliments the company’s other product lines from the likes of Metamark, 3M, Spandex, Graphtec, and Signscape.

“The Reflekton range is more than just vinyl,” he said. “In many cases where an alternative reflective vinyl is used on a vehicle wrap the reflective element of the product will crack under certain circumstances. We have a very thin reflective product now called R-8300 Vehicle Wrap Material from Reflekton which will adhere to the contours of any vehicle, is designed to be printed digitally and is also very competitively priced. The advantage of this is that when one of our clients is trying to sell their own product with a decent margin they can genuinely say its worth X because the Reflekoton product will not crack.”

Spiritflex’s tension system is another new product designed as a very simple banner tensioning system that allows a printer to change a graphic content frequently and easily so that the frame can be reused over and over again.

“A recent example of this system was used to create a digitally printed banner, tensioned and mounted on a wall in a swimming club,” continued Little. “The Spiritflex tension system is a solid frame and the beauty of the product is that the banner can be changed frequently without altering the frame. The banner tension system provides a cost effective solution for covering large expanses of wall with dynamic images. Printed PVC is easy to maintain in any busy environment and only requires a wipe down with soap and water. Images are easily updated to reflect changes in corporate branding and its ideal for venues such as swimming clubs who need to keep their profile looking at its best. The Spiritflex’s tension system comes in various lengths and is mitred in the corners to the size needed.”

After 25 years in business Trimwel has seen many advances in the sign industry although the company does not sign up to the current buzz phrase that “price is king.”

“We do not supply everything that a sign company will need,” continued Little. “Up to recently we were known in the trade for our Spandex Slatz interior directory sign system which is used in most of the hospitals and banks in Ireland. In some ways we have dictated what we stock and not the market. We are changing that now because it is the job of suppliers like us to be able to offer our clients more choice and to add value by offering a wide variety of ranges and styles.  I do feel that the sign market in Ireland is not dictated solely by the lowest price but more by good quality products at a competitive price from a wide range of cover heads for screws through to digitally printable banners and all the components that go with them.”
