Roland DG UK downsizes Irish operations
The economic climate continues to take its toll with the recent decision by Roland DG (UK) to downsize its operations in Ireland. The company has reduced staff numbers in the country by half and moved all administration functions to the UK.
All of this is in stark contrast to the positive comments made last year when Roland DG Ireland was fully integrated into Roland DG UK’s operations. Roland DG Ireland existed for many years in Ireland as a sales and service team operating from offices within the Roland Music headquarters in south Dublin. After the integration last year the new entity moved into new premises in Ballymount Corporate Park, Dublin, boasting state-of-the-art demonstration facilities. However, like many other companies throughout Europe, Ireland has not been a happy hunting ground during the latter part of 2009.
Roland DG UK managing director Jerry Davies, said: “We are fortunate to have a great team of local Irish people, based at our showroom in Ballymount, to look after our customers in Ireland. We live in a tough business environment, especially in Eire, and have therefore absorbed all back-office and general management functions into our UK operation, but in so doing have ensured the continuation of local customer support”
