Print Solutions grows Far East supply chain from 10% to 30%.
As one of Ireland’s leading suppliers to the sign and display market Print Solutions has confirmed that it is now sourcing up to 30% of its products from the Far East, in particular China.

Based in the Western Industrial Estate, Dublin 12, Print Solutions has built a product portfolio and concept around this new and ever developing supply chain in order to be able to offer customers a choice between branded and non branded lines.

This dramatic increase, up from just 10% two years ago is an indication that Asian product quality standards have improved, a testimony to the fact that the Chinese economy is the fastest growing economy in the world today.

Ian Scouler, sales director at Print Solutions explained that his company currently imports a wide range of material from China which he believes has helped maintain margins in a very competitive market environment. “The old perception that products from the Far East were inferior, in particular from China, has changed. There is no doubt that you can still get caught out, even today. However, by choosing the correct manufacturer you can ensure a high standard of QC which means you must travel there and source directly. We currently bring in a wide range of materials from China such as composite in many grades and sizes, reflective vinyl of which the High Intensity Work Zone product is approved by the Department of Transport for temporary road signs, monomeric digital vinyl, banner PVC, mesh, and display products such as snap frames, roll-ups, POP units, and light boxes. Because we purchase directly from the factory gate with no middle man involved we can offer our customers value for money on a wide range of quality products.”

Although the economic climate has undoubtedly influenced the buying patterns of companies such as Print Solutions at the same time the product must be of an acceptable standard even in recessionary times.

“Our industry is not the only industry that imports out of China,” added Scouler. “With the Chinese economy growing at such phenomenal speed throughout the world, logic would dictate that acceptance of Asian products has changed for this growth to continue at such a pace. It is our full intention to expand this supply chain even further in 2010 and continue to drive value to our customer’s bottom line by offering very competitive prices and value for money which is the real key issue here. The other interesting point is that this relatively new supply chain has allowed us to look at export opportunities and to start developing product sales in other industry sectors which is a road that Print Solutions has already started to explore.”
