    Large format printer shipments continue growth trajectory in Q3

    The large format printer (LFP) market recorded year-on-year growth during the third quarter of 2014, according to new data from the International Data Corporation (IDC) Worldwide Quarterly Large Format Printer Tracker.

    According to the report, more than 78,000 units shipped during the period, making it the fifth consecutive quarter of worldwide shipment growth.

        The worldwide large-format market grew 0.6% year-on-year (YoY) in Q3 2014
        More than 78,000 units were shipped during the period
        HP dominated shipments with a 29% market share, followed by Canon at 14.9%
        The wide-format CAD/ Technical printer market is on pace to grow 5.2% worldwide in 2014
     
        Shipment value declined 4% year over year to nearly $782 million (€629 million)

    Additional facts

    • While global shipments were up on 2013, hardware revenue in 2014 has been relatively flat due to vendor price promotions

    • Inkjet printer shipment growth offset a decline in toner-based wide-format printers during the quarter

    • Wide-format graphics printer shipments were 3% higher YoY during the first three quarters of 2014

    • HP, Canon, Epson, Mimaki and Roland make up more than 80% of global wide-format shipments, but only two-thirds of revenues
