Roland set to dazzle at Ipex
At Ipex Roland DG (Hall 12, Stand C40) will be exhibiting a range of its latest hardware developments and showcasing applications that it describes as having “compelling commercial and creative possibilities.”
The company will be demonstrating its new Versa UV LEC-330 inkjet printer. Within its compact footprint and 1440 dpi resolution, white inks plus an ability to handle both coated and uncoated substrates up to 1.3mm thick, the LEC-330 also cuts, creases, produces matt and gloss spot varnishes, emboss effects, lens-doming and countless textures.
Also on show will be the brand new VersaCamm VS-640 64in printer/cutter. The 64-inch wide VS-640 can be chosen in any one of three configurations. One is designed to deliver Roland’s silver ink, a second enables the production of hi-fi colour, while the third raises productivity by delivering uni-directional quality at bi-directional speeds.
However, we suspect there will be considerable buzz around Roland’s new metallic ink space afforded by its XC 540 MT print and cut system. This printer makes it possible to print genuine silver ink and mix that ink with a full gamut of density-packed colour. The metallic ink gamut runs from the subtle to the reflective and into a pearlescent range and this, combined with a large selection of self-adhesive and specialty media, one can see the potential of new application areas as well as growing the market for high-impact, short -run output.
Also commanding its share of the attention on the Roland stand will be the AdvancedJet AJ-740i grand format printer. This workhorse outputs six-colour CMYK+LcLm graphics on both coated and uncoated media, and boasts superior scratch and alcohol resistance required for outstanding outdoor durability.
