More added value products from Geometrics

Geometrics, based in Ballsbridge, Dublin has launched a service to refurbish the scan motor on large-format printers, initially targeting Roland Soljet Pro 111 machines. After discontinuing its large-format bureau service some time ago it has concentrated primarily on selling third party inks up to now, in particular the Nazdar range. The new service is a further response to addressing high cost consumables for its clients and while only in the initial stages of development at present Fergus Byrne, MD of Geometrics, believes the company has the potential to develop this into a huge new niche market sector.
“In an effort to continually give our customers good value for money we looked at high cost areas on certain machines. On the Roland we can refurbish the scan motor for half the price of a new replacement one.”
Geometrics’ new service involves taking the old motor apart and replacing all the moving parts, such as the brushes and bearings as well as cleaning the whole unit.
“All the new parts are high quality sourced,” added Byrne. “When you take them apart there is a huge chance of breaking the piece because each motor has an encoding glass wheel in it. Over the last year a special tool has finally been designed and fabricated to eliminate this problem. However this is still a relatively new venture so Geometrics is offering a three month warranty on all refurbished Roland Soljet Pro 111 scan motors until the refurbished units currently in use pass this time frame successfully.”
