:Anapurna M-series stretches to new G2 ink

Agfa has announced a new ink formulation for the :Anapurna M-series of hybrid printers. The new G2 UV ink says Agfa, shares the same durability and vibrancy levels as its earlier G1 UV formulation but what sets it apart is its increased levels of flexibility.
This enhancement enables users to print onto an even greater range of substrates that might need to be incorporated into an element of curvature when installed, or which are liable to suffer from stress fatigue.
Sign-makers and display producers will also benefit from being able to produce applications onto substrates that might stretch or shrink when exposed to temperature changes.
The :Anapurna G2 ink is formulated so that it does not crack when the material is bent, cut or drilled. It also boasts superior stability and adhesion properties – important when jobs are finished using CNC cutting and routing machines. This new formulation, claims Agfa, means that clean, smooth edges can be produced without any flaking.
G2 inks are also intended to reduce maintenance time and procedures on the printer as the feed, nozzles and print heads say Agfa, will not clog, even when the machine is not in use. These inks also have a long shelf life as they can be stored for up to 18 months.
The current printers in the :Anapurna M family cover all budgetary and production options, and include versions that incorporate varnish and white ink. Designed as an option for the :Anapurna M, users can opt to switch from G1 to the new G2 inks, however,  all new machines will ship with the revised product line starting from Q4 2010. The new G2 inks will be offered at the same price as the existing G1 inks.
