Borney investment includes MTEX 5032 direct-to-textile printer

Borney Display Solutions has bought an MTEX 5032 direct-to-textile printer as part of its push into the retail and exhibitions graphics markets.

The printer, which was signed for on the first day of Sign and Digital UK by directors Richard Beary and Andre Severe, joins a 1.85m and two 1.35m textile printers from d.gen.

“Textile print is about 65% of our turnover but we can see lots more opportunity and we’ve been looking for a 3.2m wide machine because we’re pushing forward with a new arm of the business to service the soft signage requirements of the retail and exhibitions markets,” said Beary at the order signing.

The Portuguese-made MTEX 5032, the tenth in the UK,  will be installed at Borney’s Huntingdon site next week, where a new room has been built specifically to house the printer and an applications showcase. Borney is also looking to recruit a business development guru with knowledge of the kit and retail/exhibitions markets.

The MTEX prints up to 1440dpi and speeds up to 62m²/h using a water-based inkset. The textile is then advanced to the in-line fixation unit where it sublimates into the polyester fabric.
