The BPIF is to run a new Supply Chain Practitioner Apprenticeship programme from February 2023. Registrations for the new course are being taken now.
Matt Child, BPIF training co-ordinator said attendees don’t necessarily have to be young people and added: “The apprenticeships are geared around existing employees as well as potential new ones. We find that some people have roles based solely on their experience and the programme will offer them a formal apprenticeship which fills the gaps by increasing their knowledge, skills and behaviours further which is obviously a benefit to their professional development as well as the organisation.”
Child said there are no pre-requisites for the course, “but we’ll be looking for people who work in customer service, procurement, planning, manufacturing, warehouse and logistics.”
Learners will attend an online workshop each month or attend a formal review. Since it is an apprenticeship the number of hours over the course of the apprenticeship with be 522 over 20 months.
Course support includes: an assigned personal tutor; telephone, email and video support five days a week; access to the elearning system seven days a week.
The cost of the apprenticeship is funded through the apprenticeship levy. If employers are a levy payer they can draw down £15k from the fund at no extra cost to themselves. If they are a non-levy payer – have a wage bill under £3m – they will need to pay 5% of the fee, amounting to £750.
