To commemorate the centenary of the end of the First World War, Signs Express (Central Lancashire) has worked with Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust to install a 5:1 replica of the Menin Gate memorial covered in more than 30,000 knitted poppies. Signs Express transformed an MDF structure by applying over 90m of printed vinyl to represent the red bricks, plaques and decorative features.
The job – which used All Print Supplies LG Hausys ML56 Travertine White film paired with Metamark vinyl – created challenges for Sign Express, such all the grain on the stonework having to be applied horizontally.
The memorial will be on display for the Remembrance service at Blackpool Victoria Hospital on 9 November between 10am and 12pm.
