Logic 2 installs first Epson Stylus Pro GS6000 printers in Ireland

Although available on the European market for nearly two years now, Ireland’s first two Epson Stylus Pro GS6000 solvent printers have just been sold by Limerick based Logic 2, to Davis Printers in Limerick and Collins Print and Packaging of Cork. The new installations are the result of Logic 2’s recent strategy to now target the commercial print market for LFP business where it has a strong foothold and presence in pre-press and IT.
Founded in January 2000 by Barry Gallagher and Ray Enright the company’s primary business is as a specialist IT service and support company, particularly in the LFP imaging and print sector, and is an authorised Epson reseller. It has developed a presence in the high end fine art and photographic LFP sector over the last few years.
“Logic 2 is one of only two dealers in Ireland authorised to sell the GS which involves working closely with Colourgen in the UK,” explained Gallagher, co-owner of the company. “This is a new venture and developing market for Logic 2 and the interesting thing here is that Epson has produced a printer which can be used for both indoor and outdoor work due to its UltraChrome GS Ink technology which eliminates the need for external dryers and air purification systems. Epson has dramatically reduced harmful VOCs, and completely removed the element Nickel (Ni) from the inks. The result is a high-performance, solvent-based ink technology with a brilliant colour gamut and accuracy, which can produce photo realistic prints on both indoor and outdoor media.”
Glenn Davis, MD of Davis Printers, Limerick said: “Clients expect the same quality and colour accuracy from a large-format print as from litho and the Epson Stylus Pro GS6000 solved this problem due to its micro weave print technology which means there is no banding and it can print up to 1440i x 1440dpi for high impact photo realistic displays.”
When Collins Print and Packaging decided to expand into large-format solvent print one concern it had was harmful emissions in an indoor environment. “You don’t have this with the GS,” added Patrick Collins, MD of the company. “The printer sits on the floor with no special ventilation; it’s clean and has less impact on the environment compared to some of the other machines the company looked at.”
