McGowan’s upgrade to an M-PRESS TIGER
McGowan’s began a major upgrade of its Agfa :M-Press in January to allow it to double capacity on the machine. The work, which will upgrade the printer to the :Press Tiger, will take approximately six weeks.
In its new guise the machine will compete directly with multicolour screen printing for short, medium and even long runs and, with virtually no set up time or screens involved for CMYK, Agfa claims it uses only about 25% of the ink lay down for a full colour gamut.
Based in the Poppintree Industrial Estate, Dublin 11, McGowan’s is one of Ireland’s leading digital suppliers of personalisation and variable imaging, outdoor advertising, POS and exhibition graphics.
Tony Roe, managing director, said: “The Thieme handling on the :M-Press allows it to print 540 sheets/hr but current speeds are at 105/hr since the carriage can’t keep up with the handling system. The upgrade will allow us to double this speed, which will enable it to become as efficient on single file runs as any screen press, with the obvious added flexibility the digital front end gives.”
