Minprint widens its product range with Mimaki

Belfast based commercial printer Minprint has invested in a Mimaki JV33-160 outdoor durable printer and matching Mimaki CG-FXII cutting plotter. The company operates from a 12,000sq foot premises serving not only the Northern Irish market but customers throughout the UK. With a substantial litho print division at its core, Minprint’s product range has grown to offer a whole spectrum of short run digital and wide format work alongside its more usual output. The recent investment was taken to significantly increase the productivity in its wide-format operation and allow further expansion of the company’s product portfolio.
Jamie McMinnis, director at Minprint remarked that the increased print width over his previous wide format printer and the rewards of having a separate printer and cutting plotter had benefitted his company’s workflow.
“The new Mimaki hardware has ramped up production since its installation,” he said. “Minprint is delighted that the quality of the output using the new SS21 ink now allows the company to offer a superior product even at higher run speeds with fewer passes. The Mimaki technology is so impressive that the company purchased a CG160-FXII plotter as well as the printer. It’s ideal for kiss cut and half cut labels but also useful for window graphics and all aspects of signage.”
McMinnis’s added that the decision to invest in Mimaki was the proximity of authorised reseller Dennis D Evans and the support that Minprint has received during the installation and since.
“The installation and training of the new system went extremely smoothly,” he commented. “Having such an experienced Mimaki reseller able to provide local backup was pivotal in our choice of supplier.”
The Mimaki JV33-160 and CG-FXII production combination is able to deliver high volumes of photo-quality work up to 1.6m wide. This has allowed Minprint to expand its product portfolio which now includes large format banners, posters, POS material, canvas prints, exhibition and vehicle graphics, as well as stickers, decals and promotional products.
Investing in the latest technology is something that McMinnis puts down to the company’s ongoing success.
“Minprint serves a broad range of clients – from small local businesses right through to multinational blue chip companies,” he continued. “Being able to offer new products from the Mimaki has seen us grow that part of our operation considerably.”
