Precision Image installs Epson Stylus Pro 9900
Precision Image has installed one of the first Epson Stylus Pro 9900 44in solvent printers in Ireland to strengthen its foothold in the general indoor poster market.
Located in Clane Business Park, Co Kildare, Precision is run by David Brennan and Paul Martin, and provides a range of signage services including heath and safety, directional, lettering, as well as general large-format print where it specialises in supplying digital photo printing solutions for the professional photographer.
Martin said the Stylus Pro 9900 has a number of features that influenced the company’s decision to purchase it. “First of all this machine uses Epson’s new high dynamic range ink set which allows it to print a wider colour gamut than any other printer in its class on the market today. Specifically it has the addition of an orange and green cartridge to allow the printer to reproduce much more accurate skin tones. The Stylus Pro 9900 has eleven cartridges with an option to use 300ml or high production 700ml cartridges. What really sold us on this printer though was the speed of this particular machine because its running at 1.6 times the speed of its predecessor, the Epson Stylus 9880. When we ran some tests on the Stylus Pro 9900 running in a 360 x 720dpi print mode we were able to produce AO posters in five minutes and forty six seconds which easily competes with any other printer in its class out there. But the big benefit for us in the print industry even more so than colour gamut is production speed and this machine can deliver that for us.”
The new Epson Stylus Pro 9900 will be used in conjunction with the company’s other Epson printer – an 11880 for general poster production, canvas printing, roll up banners and self-adhesive vinyl’s.
