Cardiff Metropolitan University’s in-house print team is helping the faculty to reduce waste and cost by refurbishing furniture instead of buying new. Desks that had been earmarked for replacement at a cost of £1,500 each, were overhauled using Antalis Coala Interior Film.
The university estates team has expressed an interest in covering a further 500 office desks across campuses and the in-house print department has since set up a showroom with eight desks on display – each covered in a different Coala Interior Film finish – from which the university’s departments can choose. The print team has already received several commissions, including a new student catering outlet, a new ‘Global Lounge’, hybrid working offices and redesigned spaces in the university’s library and IT suites.
Coala Interior Film comprises more than 470 surface finishes across nine collections: wood, leather, marble, stone, metallic, glitter, solid colours, fabric and soft touch.
