Universal Graphics installs an Esko Kongsberg i-XL 24
Universal Graphics, a specialist provider of fleet branding, large-format printing, outdoor media and signage solutions, has just installed an Esko Kongsberg i-XL 24 digital cutting table at its production facility based in Monaghan.
The investment was made to significantly increase the company’s finishing capabilities on a large range of materials in order to expand the company’s growth plans in wide-format print for the sign, display and POP market.
Honan, sales director at Reprocentre who supplied the table, said: “The Kongsberg i-XL24, in conjunction with the innovative technology of the Esko i-cut Vision control system and i-script workflow, enables a company to cut and tool, with perfect registration, a diverse variety of materials including acrylics, polycarbonates and high pressure laminates. This is achieved by the i-cut camera which measures each printed object using register marks to define the position and to compensate for any dimensional changes, distortions or material variations like shrinkage or stretching.
“The i-script software is the interface between the digital print Rip software and the i-cut digital finishing system, effectively connecting and automating the graphic design process and the finishing data. This ensures that the operator does not have to re-register the tool head for each printed element on each sheet. One of the strong points about the Kongsberg i-XL24 is that it comes with special tooling which makes it ideal for the sign and display market and significantly improves the finishing time on a wide range of materials.”
